History
The statues given to winners is an astronaut on the moon, one of the earliest representations of MTV. The eligibility period for the Video Music Awards currently begins July 1. Before 2002, the VMAs were traditionally held on the first Thursday of September. It was decided to move the awards back a week so that it wouldn't conflict with the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

disappointment in the usa's tastes
i have to state..there are some really good artists in all those categories who i do respect however...
pinks NOWHERE to be found in best video category as im looking to make her a nominee
i live about...2 hours from where pink grew up before she moved to LA..and i have to say Im EXTREMELY disappointed in just how...unappreciated she is in her homestate..and her home country!
Im doing the fanbook..and the majority of the entries I have gotten are from you fine, musically-sound individuals from over in Australia, and most of Europe. Few of the entries have been from USA. And then its wondered why she tours other countries more than she tours here!
Well..wonder no further...look to the American establishments such as concert venues and awards shows who have their own heads too far up their (youknowwhats) to give P!nk the recognition and respect that she deserves to be shown just as much or if not more than all these other artists being given trophys for their craft!
Im gonna go and try and find her in the rest of the categories!
Thanks for listening to my rant! And if you are from the great USofA and you're wishing she'd start winning awards around here...Step up to the plate and get promoting!
