Where are the Irish Pink Hoes?

Where are the Irish Pink Hoes?

come out come out ye little leprechauns

Hello Irish ppl - I'm sure you're getting ready for the St. Pat's day celebration - well I am here - us Yanks like to celebrate all drinking holidays *smiles*

Anyway, some of us are planning our Carnival trip which includes Belfast & Dublin shows. Trying to find out info on Belfast & Dublin - as in if you had time to kill inbetween shows - which city is better & why - or what would you do if you had a day to visit Belfast and/or Dublin.

Also - do any of you golf? I would love to play 9 holes while I'm there, but none of the people I'm going with play golf. (I'm not a good golfer - I'm very inconsistent - but would love to play in Ireland).

If you prefer - you can email me at LadyDiPinkFan@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for any help *smiles*

Green Day is awesome in concert - I've seen them a few times (actually already saw this tour show in the US - so wont be too gutted if I miss it)

Hi Maria
I think it will be 4 nights in Belfast, then 5-6 nights in Dublin and then maybe 3-5 nights somewhere else before we fly to London - LOL - it has been difficult planning all of this. We are goin for sites & scenery & maybe MOORE castles for the last few days there (and ideally not far from an airport). We will prob do the Belfast castle/walk thing someone suggested (maybe you - need to look at the post - lol).
Hey r u by chance goin to the Green Day Dublin (Marlay park) show on the 23? - I think I'm gonna stay for that, but my friends aren't. Figure I'll meet up with some Irish ppl who are going. I'm thinking the Green Day fans hang out in the pubs, right? Along with the golfers hopefully - lol
I really appreciate ur help Smiling

I don't ever get carsick - and never sea sick either.
Some ferry's here are like big parties - with a bar on the boat & all - and you get to walk around & take in the sites - wondering if that was what the ferry was like - or if it was MOORE like just transportation

Hey my Irish Pink hoes - got another question for ya Smiling
the 8 hour ferry ride from Liverpool to Belfast - would that be a fun trip filled with adventure - or would that be a crappy trip that would possibly make you barf (rough waters?).
Thanks in advance for any info - and I hope u have all recovered from the St. Patty's day celebration - I have Smiling

Hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patty's Day - I'll be drinking a Guiness and Irish whiskey in your honor (among many other things I'm afraid) - the plan is to meet at the bar at 10am - so I'll start with the whiskey in an Irish coffee Smiling

here is a little vid I found from last years Dogtown Parade (St. Louis MO) - always on March 17 - you take off work or call in sick - but we are all Irish on St. Patty's day!

Thanks HenryTheBulldog - I'll look into what you said & may have MOORE questions - we are gonna stay in downtown Belfast (mabye refered to as Center City?) - it is just 3 miles from the venue. Cave Hill sounds great & def want to fit in a castle. Golf prob wont happen in Belfast - MOORE like Dublin. But thanks again for the info & keep an eye on this post, in case I have follow up quesitons *smiles*
so I'm assuming u r going to the Belfast concert - right? perhaps we can say hi in line?

Di,

You've had the Dublin update so I'll have a go at Belfast... I live about 20 miles outside it but work much closer. Loads of good golf courses in N.I, really depends on what you're after. The best courses (Royal Portrush etc) you'd need to be a member to play but there are some around where you could play casually. If you let me know where you're staying I can maybe suggest some.

Stuff to do... there are some really lovely places out in the coastal areas but if you're on public transport it makes it far trickier. If you can get to it the seal sanctuary in Portaferry it's worth a look. Best things to do in Belfast in my opinion:

Belfast bus tour- very touristy but massively interesting, especially if you're into history
Crown Liquor saloon- very old pub
W5- it's a science museum. I know that sounds lame but it's all hands on and if you can avoid the rush of kids you can spend hours testing your reaction time, building bridges, playing virtual reality football (soccer) and loads of other interesting things. Honestly, it's better than it sounds!
Cave Hill- just a long walk really but the views at the top are great and you can take in Belfast Castle at the same time.

As for night life, Cathedral Quarter is nice but patrons of some of the clubs can be a bit pretentious! I have bumped into celebs in the Pot House previously so you never know. Botanic Avenue and the Stranmillis area are very student orientated usually but June will be outside of University term time so will be quieter. Victoria square is a fairly new shopping / entertainment centre and is a safe bet for food and a few drinks.

Let me know if you want anymore info.

Thanks - I'm not much of a shopper - but others may want to shop. And I'm a bit older than u - 30+ - Not really into touristy stuff either - really just like to hang out with the locals in a neighborhood pub when I travel - lol
but I do want to see a castle & hopefully a golf course while I'm there, and maybe that statue - I'll google it - thanks

For getting around the city yeah bus or train. The bus is cheaper but I find the train a helluva lot easier to understand :L and it doesn't just go through the city like you can go get from Greystones in Wicklow to Howth in Dublin. In terms of shopping I'd reccommend Grafton Street and Henry Street. I usually just shop on Henry St as Grafton St is kind of expensive.Theres also George's Street Arcade on George's St, has really cute and quirky stuff. Theres Stephens Green park, Stephens Green shopping centre. For sightseeing I don't think I'll be much help, as I've lived in Dublin my whole 15 years and I don't go sightseeing :L So I think the best person to ask that would be a tourist who has been here. I know lots of tourists visit the statue of Molly Malone.

Hey thanks Quirky Irish Hoe - lol
current plan is Dublin 6/18 thru 22 - and we are staying within walking dist of RDS - so any recommendations of where to go or what to see
and is train the best way to travel - figure we would do a train or a bus b/t Belfast & Dublin

Hey I'm from Dublin, how long are you going to be here? I've never been in Belfast so I can't tell you anything about it but Dublin is pretty cool apart from the weather(but in fairness you're gonna get bad weather anywhere in Ireland :L) But yeah if you're in Dublin, you pretty much have the whole city to kill time. Summer Carnival is in the RDS, which is just down the road from the DART(train) which can bring you straight into town. So I suppose you could shop, eat whatever in town and then get the DART to the RDS? any more questions I'm happy to help!
