a little girl
of all but 3
with the blonde hair
and the little pig tails
side by side
sitting at the end of the bed
not knowing
what is in store for her
she has but one care in the world
that her daddy will
call her his little girl
to praise upon
to shower kisses upon
to hug her
and say it is all right
to make her feel
not so lonely at night
to keep her safe from harm
and to protect her from the dark
one day she will be 23
and she will hold
her daddy's hand so tight
and pray to god
that he still holds
her as his little girl
holds her in his heart
as they both stare in to the night
