Pink's help to Stop the Go Pink Dog Campaign

Pink's help to Stop the Go Pink Dog Campaign

We need Pink's Help to help stop cancer organisation raising money by associating with animal cruelty.

Go the Pink Dog is a campaign by the McGrath Foundation and TasRacing, Greyhound Racing Victoria and Sky Racing. Each race the pink Greyhound (Number Cool wins TasRacing and Greyhound Racing Victoria will donate $500 to the McGrath foundation.

This isn’t your average campaign with a company giving to charity. This is not only giving to the McGrath foundation but also giving a huge boost to the Greyhound Racing Industry. In the past the McGrath foundation has been connected with other companies that support animal cruelty such as Ingham and Mars.

Not only is it blatant animal cruelty but it is also highly hypocritical of a foundation that claims to “Make a Difference”. This campaign supports the gambling industry and worst of all it supports the death and suffering of countless greyhounds.

In Australia around 25, 000 Greyhounds are bred each year. Only about half of these dogs reach the age to start training. The other half of these beautiful puppies are routinely killed. Many of the training dogs will not make the cut, also resulting in being murdered for not being quick enough. Like other medium sized dogs the lifespan of a greyhound should be around 12 years. The dogs however (if they don’t die on the track) will finish their racing careers by the age of 2 – 4. Many of these pups will not be fast enough or will be injured during a race or training, again they are killed. At least one Greyhound will die due to injuries caused on a track in Australia, every single day. Around 1000 Australian Greyhounds are exported to Asia each year, for racing and later for human consumption.

The Greyhound Industry in Australia is all about making money, and thus the 20,000 Greyhounds routinely killed each year are murdered in various horrific ways because they are cheaper. Beating, drowning and shooting are just some of the ways in which a greyhound will be killed. They are then used as an ingredient of blood and bone. Greyhounds, if not killed by the industry will then go on to be breeders themselves or put in Universities and Laboratories around Australia for “research”.

For info on how you can help stop Greyhound Racing for good please go to Greyhound Action.

At this point in the campaign emailing the McGrath Foundation doesn’t seem to be going well. You can however write to them here.

Or send a letter of concern to PO Box 4, Northbridge, NSW 2063.

Their business address is Level 1, 115 Sailors Bay Road, Northbridge, NSW 2063.

Pink, this is such a worthwhile cause. In the USA, Greyhound Racing has been banned in 38 states and there are only 7 states left with active racing. In Australia, the racing industry completely overpowers our animal activist groups and therefore we need some "heavy hitters" such as yourself to mobile us and give us power to ban this completely cruel bloodsport.
Could you please help us?
Thank you and best wishes,

Please Pink, can you help? In any way, can you have an interview with someone and speak out about greyhound racing and it's evil cruelty. Not only for Aust, for the world.

I know you're a dog-lover and these dogs are just like any other - affectionate, playful, lazy, tail-wagging cuddle-bums. They get overbred, kept in cages, sent out to run at a high risk of injury. And when they're considered no-longer useful, killed. So few get homes. So many people, like me, respect what you have to say about animal welfare - these greyhounds need your voice! Please help them!

For the month of January on the 80+ greyhound race tracks in Australia here are the following stats:
Euthanased greyhounds: 21
Fractured injuries unknown if killed: 31
Injuries (not including above numbers): 623
Scratched from races due to injuries & illness (training): 756
Vet checked at the track but apparently no injury but suspected of an injury: 445

Pink, *please* speak out against the Go the Pink Dog campaign! Promoting greyhound racing in the name of charity, and all of the evils assocaiated with it is just wrong in so many ways! Please help make a difference in the lives of the long-suffering geryhounds! Your voice would mean so much. Thank you!

Imagine having the power you have Pink, to speak out and be heard about an issue that is important, not just in Australia, but world wide. I urge you Pink to read up on the treatment of greyhounds around the world and help stop this campaign in Australia. They are literally running for their lives. Please help. You have so many followers, all great people. I wish all animal lovers would also add their voices and write to the address above. There must be a more ethical way to raise money for such a worthy cause.

I'm a big fan and admire your stance against animal cruelty. Your support would really be great to help this unethical Australian Charity finally listen to the overwhelming public voice to stop promoting greyhound racing. They are only after the money and won't stop to think about the greater issue of greyhound exploitation and the mass breeding and killing of these beautiful dogs. Please help us. Love, Debbie

Greets from New Zealand. What is written above is right on. No Matter what country, greyhounds suffer so gamblers can be entertained. Its really crap. My country has greyhound cruelty issues on a massive scale too. We could really use your help on this silly "go the pink dog" campaign, and with greyhound advocacy in general?
Much love, ~A
