Unclean

Unclean

Running around above ground
With secrets no one could imagine
And a knowledge of innocence robbed
Long before she could speak

A man taking from a child
Taking that which cannot be given back
Causing harm and pain
Requiring reconstruction

Time passes and it occurs again
With pain internal
And scars unseen
A veil is pulled
Hiding the hurt
Until the guilt is too much

The parent reveals the tragedy
To the one who can’t remember
When she was changed forever

From this comes hate
Internal hate
That blames the self
Creating fear
Determined to hold for many years

Taking the pain and causing more
In attempt to restore
The fire, the drive, the purpose
A meaning without the hurt

The knife it cuts so sweat
Cutting so deep
Hoping to release the guilt
The feeling of being UNCLEAN

It's not your fault though is it? How could it have been?
