ink could have written this song by Mika! It was made for the 2010 cinema action film hit "KickAss" about a boy who is just dreaming about becoming a super hero. The film is quite violent, but well made with likeable characters and a fascinating nonsense story and a good dialogue.

It is easy to recognize the riffs from the old White Stripes hit "Seven Nation Army" underneath this Jack White solo work. Jack White hasn't really been able to follow up on his massive success after The Stripes days back in 2004-7, but the video looks extremely cool, and there's a lot of guitar work too ... if you dig that. Eye-wink

Nicki Minaj is more of a hands-on artist than most of her colleagues in the R&B business. She records music for two very different markets: Experimental 'urban' tracks for the club scene and traditional R&B tracks for the mainstream market and the charts. Here's another experimental work.

... And when you've heard the above track I suggest you comapre the sound to this old instrumental ambient track by Locust from Austria! Eye-wink

And now for the classics... ABBA still equals perfection when it comes to pop music. The band that started Sweden's immense influence on the international pop charts still rules. Cool

Here's a rather melancholic old song by Anette's favourite band. One of my friends once told me that the works of DM "is the soundtrack for his life"! Smiling

The second-last song of this Singalong qualifies for the Frigay Specials, I think ... so many people have recorded this grand old South African traditional either known as "Wimoweh" or "Mbube", but nobody would have known the songs if it hadn't been for The Tokens' 1961 song - this is a cover, of course! Laughing out loud

And finally... Let's celebrate the memory of the late Deep Purple keyboardist and classical musician, Jon Lord, who passed away on July 17th. i will always remember him for his outstanding organ work on this epic all time rock classic - one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. The organ is in fact the single most important bit. Remove it, and you'll only have another screaming rock song left - it's the organ that sets the mood and the tune. Sticking out tongue

Sleep tight, Lord... To the rest of you: See you next time. Smiling
