Princess

Princess

There is a river
As it flows on by
It reminds me of you
But I don't know why

In the middle an island awaits
And it makes me think
Of the times I have
Been alone

Surrounded by you
Touched by your waters
I feel for you, cut you in two
As you slip through my fingers

You are taken away
Such subtle erosion
Falling ever forward
Spill to the ocean

With care filled eyes
I wave goodbye
On a bed of tender moments
I lay my thoughts of you

Nostalgia is only made worse over time, if only we could go back to a time when we werent nostalgic.

I guess that is a bit cryptic. My wife Michelle had told me that growing up she had always wanted to be "Daddy's Princess" but that it had never been that way.

The cool thing is that I had written this before we ever met. Unfortunately the sad thing is that the poem seems to also foreshadow an early death, which turned out to be the case.
